The Brief

I was approached with creating an illustration, brand identity and assets for a global community tech event in Utrecht. My role was to develop the illustration, logo concept, home page assets and promotional swag.

My solution

One of the main challenges was that the city’s iconic features are so similar to many other Dutch cities, that there was real risk of producing a generic and uninspiring solution. I solved this when I realised the Dom Tower reminded me of old sci-fi movies with flying saucers attacking the city. I used this inspiration to create Kubernetes logo saucers invading the city, symbolising the Kubernetes community gathering in Utrecht.
